Celery Pear Juice with Fennel

Celery Pear Juice with Fennel

One of the consistent complaints that come up when I get to talking with people about smoothies is texture. For generations raised on milkshakes and slurpees, drinking roughage can take some getting used to for some people. Especially for those who don’t enjoy the almost immediate benefits that many people do when they start adding green smoothies to their diets.

The easiest way to add more fruits and veggies to your diet is juicing. You can start with a higher fruit-to-veggie ratio as most Americans are used to pretty sweet drinks. Not only is it easy to make juice that satisfies any sweet tooth, the texture is obviously a lot smoother.

A refreshing summer favorite is celery/pear juice. And sometimes I add cucumber and ginger. I love this juice poured over ice with sprigs of celery greens.

If you’re looking to learn more about juicing AND enjoy inspirational stories about triumphing over obstacles, Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead is a great movie to watch before you go to the farmers market or grocery store. Although he doesn’t mention fennel, I recommend adding it to many juices 🙂
