A Quick Cautionary Tale
As much as I love Mason jars and efficiency, stocking up for winter doesn’t have to happen exclusively with glass. After this recent mishap I strongly advise against freezing liquid in Mason jars even though I’m not sure why this has never happened when we make freezer jam.
When I went to defrost some of my favorite soup I pulled this cracked jar out of the freezer.
Fortunately it split into large pieces I could snap off of the jar-shaped block o’ soup with very few small shards.
But lesson learned.
Freeze soups in plastic tupperware or don’t fill to the top.
